The inaugural "Leaders in the Clubhouse" fundraiser, held September 22, 2009 at Quail Hollow Club, gave The First Tee of Charlotte an opportunity to share with guests about the wonderful things that have been happening in the program. Over 250 people gathered for dinner, silent and live auctions, along with an opportunity to hear from renowned author and columnist, James Dodson whose books include: A Son of the Game, Beautiful Madness, Ben Hogan: An American Life, The Road to Somewhere, The Dewsweepers, A Golfer's Life, Faithful Travelers and Final Rounds. But what our guests got in three guest speakers was more than they could have asked. Participants, Arissa McNeal, Sameer Aery, and Stephen Graddick, IV, shared the microphone in three accounts of just what a deep impact the program has had on their lives. They shared stories about learning how to Persevere, use good Judgment and why it is important to have Integrity among the many other core values. Their stories brought both tears, applause and a standing ovation from the crowd. Following the speakers' addresses and dinner, the silent and live auctions shared in helping generated over $190,000 during the evening for the program's operating costs. The First Tee of Charlotte would like to thank Piedmont Natural Gas Company for their generosity as the underwriting sponsor of the event.
