What is the Tournament Series?
The Tournament Series is a summer program that enables experienced junior golfers ages 7-18 an opportunity to compete in a stroke play format within their peer groups. Girls and Boys will play at a different course in the greater Charlotte area. Beginning in 2009, The First Tee of Charlotte will partner with Ratcliffe Golf Services, Inc. and enroll participants in the Mecklenburg County Jr. Golf Tour, running from April through August. A total of 6 events will be available for participation.

What is the goal of the Tournament Series?
Our goal is to assist our participants in their exposure to competitve tournament experience events to encourage the development of junior golfers. The tournament experience is unique and the Mecklenburg County Jr. Golf Tour will give all players a chance to fairly compete within age and gender divisions. We encourage each junior to reach their full golf potential while growing as a person.

What are the Benefits of the
Tournament Series?
Juniors will compete on regulation golf courses with their peers in a competitive learning environment. Tour Membership available for purchase with the Mecklenburg County Jr. Golf Tour allows for discounted rates on registration of all Tour events as well as other opportunities such as instructional clinics. If registering for the Tour Championship event, participants have the opportunity to be ranked nationally by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Costs
The Tournament Series will be hosted by the Mecklenburg County Jr. Golf Tour and managed by Ratcliffe Golf Services, Inc.. The costs vary based on member and non-member rates as well as event. There are a total of 6 events to register for with a cost associated with each. Click to learn more about the cost to participate.

How do I join the Tournament Series?
To register, simply complete the form located on this web site. Once the form and your payment are received you will be notified. All registration through The First Tee of Charlotte will be collected and transferred to Ratcliffe Golf Services, Inc. whom will be managing the Mecklenburg Junior Golf Tour.

What are the Divisions?
Divisions are based on gender and age:
Girls Ages 7-10 play 9 holes
Girls Ages 9-18 play 18 holes
Boys Ages 7-10 play 9 holes
Boys Ages 9-18 play 18 holes

Dress Code
Proper golf attire will be required, no tattered jeans, cut-offs, or swimsuits. Hats if worn are to be worn as designed. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Shirts must have collars and be tucked in Shoes can not have metal spikes, soft spikes and tennis shoes are acceptable. Any junior not abiding by this dress code will not be allowed to play that week.

Are volunteers needed?
Yes, we need adult volunteers at each tournament. Their roles would include general assistance with supervision and organization. Any help you can give during that time would be greatly appreciated. You may volunteer for any week by calling The First Tee of Charlotte, 704-348-2515.
