The First Tee of Charlotte's Fundraising Efforts Net BIG Gains for 2010!
The First Tee of Charlotte was hard at work in the last quarter of 2009 to raise funds to support efforts for 2010's programming. Our first event, the First Annual Leaders in the Clubhouse event was a huge success offering our donors an opportunity to hear James Dodson, renowned author of several books such as Beautiful Madness, the Dewsweepers, Ben Hogan: An American Life, and his most recent, Final Rounds. In addition the guests were able to hear the impact of The First Tee of Charlotte first-hand by participants Stephen Graddick, IV, Sameer Aery, and Arissa McNeal as they gave their own testimony of their experiences related to the Nine Core Values. The dinner and speaker event helped raise almost $150,000 for the program in one evening.
In addition to The First Tee of Charlotte's Leaders event, the 5th Annual Bank of America Golf Tournament took place in early November at Gaston Country Club. Golfers endured the heavy rains and low temperatures for the cause; the event earned the program a net of $100,000.
A special thanks to our Board of Trustees for all of their hard work in making these two events a phenomenal success in 2009!
A Message from our Friend and Intern for Summer 2009: Chase Simpson!
Hello The First Tee of Charlotte Parents, Volunteers and PARTICIPANTS! I just wanted to drop all of you a quick note to let you know how much this summer internship has meant to me. With my internship coming to an end I have had time to look back and reflect on my time here at TFTC. I cannot even begin to tell all of you how much I have learned this summer. I have grown as a person in ways that I didn't know existed. TFTC has helped me step out of my comfort zone and become a better person. Each day here meant the world to me, to walk into a place and see all of your faces brought me great joy the entire summer. I have developed friendships that I know will last a lifetime. Moving here basically knowing no one could not have been as easy as it was if I did not have TFT in my life each day. Thank you to all the parnts who made me feel so appreciated and at ease each day. Thank you to all of the volunteers who help improve TFTC daily, and to the kids, thank you for putting a smile on my face each day. Finally to Brandi and Vince, thank you for everything you have taught me, allowing me to be a part of such an amazing organization; but mostly thank you for the friendships that we have developed. I will truly miss you ALL!
Thank you for an amazing summer!
Miss Chase :-)
